Preparing Your Home for a Sauna Installation (Power, Placement, and Ventilation)

I’ve been in the trades a long time, and here’s the truth: a sauna feels “premium” when the planning is done right. Heat is honest. It exposes shortcuts. This checklist keeps your install safe, clean, and built to last.

✅ Quick Install Checklist

  • Pick a flat, stable location with breathing room around the unit.
  • Confirm voltage + amperage requirements before delivery.
  • Plan for airflow and humidity control in smaller spaces.
  • Protect flooring/walls from repeated heat cycles over time.

⚡ Electrical: Do not Guess

Some saunas plug into standard outlets, others need dedicated circuits. Before you buy, verify the manufacturer requirements for voltage, amperage, and whether a dedicated breaker is required.

  • No extension cords.
  • No shared circuits if a dedicated circuit is required.
  • Make sure connections are tight and the circuit is correctly sized.
